November, 2004—Dr. Marshall Sager has been appointed as Chair of the Education Section of the International Council of Medical Acupuncture and Related Techniques (ICMART). ICMART (www.icmart.org) is a non-profit international organization comprising more than 50 medical acupuncture societies worldwide. It includes over 25,000 licensed physicians practicing Medical Acupuncture.

The purpose of the Education Section is to unify international standards for physician practiced acupuncture and insure the highest quality of patient care by physicians who are proficient in both Western and Eastern medicine. The Education Section will analyze the diverse educational requirements of the 50 national member organizations and promulgate uniform, international physician educational standards. These will specify post-medical school classes, practical and clinical experience as well as examination standards.
